Trump declines to commit to peaceful transfer of power

 President Trump on Wednesday objected to commit to peaceful transfer of power following November's election. Trump, when asked on Wednesday if he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power after the election --win or lose-- he responded, " Well, we're going to have to see what happens." "Get rid of the ballots," Trump added "and you'll have a very peaceful -- there won't be a transfer, frankly. U.S. Rep. Jahana Hayes has tested positive for coronavirus.

 U.S. Representative Jahana Hayes has tested positive for coronavirus  on Sunday and has reportedly decided to quarantine for 14 days, she said on Twitter. "I have taken every possible precaution and still contracted coronavirus," Hayes said in a tweet. Hayes became the latest member of the Congress to test for COVID-19. She is asymptomatic except for breathing issues, which were being monitored. At least 17 other members of the U.S. House Representative and Senate - nine Republicans and seven Democrats - have tested positive or are presumed to have had COVID-19. Hayes on Twitter said that though mask-wearing, social distancing and cleaning precautions are taken in the House of Representatives, members of Congress are not regularly tested for COVID-19.

US supreme Court Judge, Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies of cancer, aged 87.

US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, has died of cancer at the age of 87, the court has said. The iconic champion of women's right, reportedly died on Friday of metastatic pancreatic cancer at her home in Washington DC, surrounded by her family, the statement said. Earlier this year, Ginsburg said she was undergoing chemotherapy for a recurrence of cancer. She was a prominent feminist who became a figurehead for liberals in the US. Ginsburg was the oldest justice and the second ever woman to sit on the Supreme Court, where she served for 27 years. "Our Nation has lost a jurist of historic stature," Chief Justice John Roberts said in a statement on Friday. "We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn, but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her - a tireless and resolute champion of justice." US delivers 2 million doses of hydroxychloroquine to Brazil to help fight coronavirus.

The White House on Sunday said that, the United States of America has sent 2 million doses of antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine to Brazil to help it's battle against the novel coronavirus. The Us and Brazilian government said that the drug will be used preventatively to protect Brazil's nurses, doctors and Health care professionals against the virus as well as a therapeutic to treat Brazilians who become infected. Trump has earlier said that he takes daily doses of hydroxychloroquine, despite it unproven efficacy against the virus. "The United States Government has delivered two million doses of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) to the people of Brazil", a statement issued by the US and Brazil read.

Trump signs executive order targeting social media companies.

With the aim of increasing the ability of the government to regulate social platforms, US President Donald Trump, on Thursday May 28, signed an executive order targeting social media companies. The executive order targets companies granted liability protection through Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, according to a report by cnbc.com. Under the statute, large social media companies cannot be sued for much of the content posted by others using their sites. The order would push the Federal Communications Commission to set new rules on some websites' protections under Section 230. It would also encourage the Federal Trade Commission to take action against companies that engage in "deceptive" acts of communication, and it would form a working group of state attorneys general to review relevant state laws.
