The Nigeria Police Force has released a statement assuring the general public that killers of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa will be brought to book. Nigerians called for justice for Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, who was allegedly raped and killed inside a church in Benin city, Edo State.  The Nigeria Police Force via it's official Twitter handle released the statement, and promises to 'unravel the circumstances surrounding the brutal attack and unfortunate death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa in Benin, Edo State on the 28th and 30th May respectively'. Alhaji Abdulhamid Sani, APC Chairman in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina have been killed by bandits. The 55 year-old Sani was killed Sunday by bandits in a shooting rampage. According to a source, the assailants came from a forest on a motorcycle and opened fire, killing him on the spot. His body, it was learnt, had been deposited at the General Hospital in Batsari. Katsina Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed Sani’s death in a statement on Sunday.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has ordered the investigation  into the murder of 22-year old Uwa Omozuwa. She died three days after she was violently raped inside a Miracle Sanctuary parish, Redeemed Christian Church of God located at  44, Osa Amadasun street, off Agbor road, Benin city. Uwaila was a first year student of Microbiology in the University of Benin before she was murdered. She was a regular visitor to the church where she goes to read. Her Mother and her siblings have been members of the church for 15 years. Meanwhile, the Pastor of  the Church in Benin City, escaped a mob action by aggrieved youths and family members of the 22-year-old. It took the timely intervention of the Police to avert a mob action when the Pastor of the Church went on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased. A man was allegedly  killed by his brother following disagreements over funds generated for mother's funeral. Mr Remigus was allegedly murdered by his brother Patrick Obiesheike in Umulowoshie Umuoahochie Autonomous Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, following disagreements over funds raised for mother's funeral. The suspect reportedly fled the community after commiting the crime. Remigus,55, was a commercial motorcyclist, who lived in the village with his family before he was killed by his brother. The wife of the deceased reported the incident to the Obowo Divisional Police Headquarters on Monday. The remains of Remigus has been deposited in a morgue and a manhunt for the suspect, who is currently on the run has the launched, a Police personnel confirmed. With files from The Punch.

Police have arrested a Utah man on suspicion of murder after he told authorities that he killed a 25-year-old woman he met on popular dating app Tinder. 24-year-old Ethan Hunsaker, called 911 on Sunday May 24, to report he'd killed someone inside a home in Layton. When police officers responded to the home, they found a woman lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds to he torso. Efforts to resuscitate her proved abortive as she died of her injuries at the scene, Layton Police Department said in a prepared statement.  The woman's name was not released immediately. Motive behind the attack is still under investigation but the attack appears to have been unprovoked. Hunsaker is currently arrested on suspicion of first degree murder, and is held in Davis County Jail.

YNW Bortlen was charged alongside YNW Melly in the same Broward County, Florida double murder. Following a hearing on Friday, the 'Mixed personalities' rapper was ordered released on bond on Saturday May 24. According to attorney John M. Philips, who represented the family of one of the deceased, YNW Juvy, Melly will remain behind bars until trial.  Bortlen was charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of accessory after the fact for allegedly working with Melly to kill crew members YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. Bortlen will be granted release once he puts up colletaral worth in excess of $90k. He wi then be placed under house arrest, and subject to GPS tracking.

A 17-year-old wife has allegedly killed her husband for trying to have sex with her, claiming she had no idea sex is a marital obligation. According to Salma Hassan, a resident of Itas-Gadau in Bauch state, she thought her husband was trying to defile her, which was why she stabbed him to death just 11 days after their wedding. She told journalists that when her husband approached her for sex that night, she thought what he was doing was wrong, so she objected. She said: “We were married. We loved each other. “I never knew that sex is a marital obligation. On that fateful night when he approached me for sex, I refused him because I have never been involved in it. I thought he wanted to defile me. “He later got angry and was trying to force himself on me with slaps and beating, then I picked up a knife to scare him away but he kept coming.
