Chelsea up for sale, Abramovich confirms.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has confirmed that he is selling the club. The Russian billionaire arrived in the English capital in 2003 and Chelsea have won five Premier Leagues and two Champions Leagues under his ownership. Conor McGregor has already hinted he could make a bid for the club while Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss has revealed he's been offered the chance to purchase the Blues as part of a consortium. In a statement on Chelsea's official website, Abramovich said: "I would like to address the speculation in media over the past few days in relation to my ownership of Chelsea FC. As I have stated before, I have always taken decisions with the club’s best interest at heart. "In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the club, the fans, the employees, as well as the club’s sponsors and partners. Liverpool are Carabao Cup Champions.

Liverpool have claimed the Carabao Cup with a victory over Chelsea after a lengthy penalty shoot-out which ended 11-10 in favor of Liverpool. Chelsea's goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga missed from the spot.

Kai Havertz bags hat-trick as Chelsea hit six past Barnsley.

 Kai Havertz had a night to remember as he scored a hat-trick in the Blues 6-0 thumping of  Barnsley  at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup. The goals were Havertz's first for the Blues since his 71 million pounds move from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month. "First of many nights" for him, Blues boss Frank Lampard said as he continues to keep faith in the abilities of the 21-year-old German. Tammy Abraham, Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud were also on the target as the Blues eased into the Fourth round. Chelsea will visit either Tottenham or Leyton Orient in the next round. In other games, Arsenal went through to the next round following a 2-0 victory over Leicester City.

 After two wins in two matches, Leicester City are at the summit of a very fresh English Premier League Table. Leicester walloped Burnley  4-2 at home, to maintain their perfect start to the campaign. Frank Lampard's Chelsea succumbed to pressure from Champions Liverpool, as they were beaten 2-0 at home. Two goals from Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, ensured that the Champions remained unbeaten after two games. Manchester United were stunned at home by Crystal Palace. The Reds lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace, a result that has called for more signing to be made before the transfer window closes. James Rodriguez inspired rejuvenated Everton side to a 5-2 home win against newly promoted West Brom. Calvert-Lewin bagged a hatrick in that encounter. Everon are second on the log. Jose Mourinho side eased past The Saints, in a game that ended 5-2 in favour of Tottenham Hotspurs. Son bagged four goals in that encounter. Chelsea star Hudson-Odoi arrested.

Chelsea and England forward Callum Hudson-Odoi was arrested on Sunday (May 17) following an argument with a woman, The Sun newspaper reported. The Metropolitan Police told The Sun that officers and London Ambulance Service were called in the early hours of Sunday morning "to a report of an unwell woman". The report added that the woman was taken to hospital and a man was arrested at the scene and remained in police custody. Chelsea declined to comment on The Sun's report. Hudson-Odoi, 19, had made 17 Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season until the Covid-19 pandemic halted the campaign. He made his England debut last year and has a total of three caps for his country.
