Generator repairer faces N2.7m fraud charge

A 39-year-old generator repairer, Paulinus Emeh, who allegedly defrauded his customer to the tune of N2.7m, has appeared before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Emeh, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on four counts of fraud and stealing. The police prosecutor, Insp. N. A. Simon, told the court on Friday that the defendant committed the alleged offences on October 16, around 11am on Community Road, Ago, Okota, in Lagos. Simon alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N2.7m from the complainant, Mr Benjamin Idisi, under the guise of fixing a new core in the complainant’s 1.500KVA caterpillar generator.

Lagos Govt Reacts To Viral Video Of School Assembly In Flooded Ground

The Lagos State Government has reacted to a video that went viral over the weekend wherein pupils were seen in a flooded school assembly ground. In the video, the pupils of primary school age were seen singing the national anthem, knee-deep in murky floodwaters and floating rubber shoes. However, in reaction to the video, the Lagos State Ministry of Education on its Facebook page stated that: “The school assembly viral on social media is a low cost private school in Makoko, Lagos State.  “The video was taken some months ago by a church that wanted to use the video to raise funds for the school.  “The building has been demolished and is being built.  “Lagos State authorities are sending officials there on Monday to ascertain level of progress.  “Thanks for your concerns.” - TRIBUNE

White House press secretary test positive for COVID-19.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, she said in a statement, adding she had last seen President Joe Biden on Tuesday. Psaki, 42, who stated she was vaccinated and experiencing mild symptoms, said she and the president sat outside more than 6 feet (1.8 m) apart and wore masks on Tuesday. Biden tested negative for COVID-19 on Saturday, said a person familiar with the matter. “I am disclosing today’s positive test out of an abundance of transparency,” Psaki said. Psaki, the main spokesperson for the White House, is the most high-profile person in the Biden administration known to have contracted COVID-19 since he took office in January. Psaki decided not to join Biden on his trip to Rome and Glasgow this week because a member of her household tested positive for the virus, after which she quarantined, she said. A mother has given birth to a baby boy weighing more than a stone in Oxfordshire - making him the third biggest newborn in the UK.  Cherral Mitchell, 31, required two midwives to deliver baby Alpha before he left staff at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford stunned when he weighed in at 14lb 15oz.  Alpha, born at 38 weeks on Thursday, has since been nicknamed 'Baby Hippo' and 'Butter Bean'.  Doctors have attributed Alpha's sizeable weight down to a sweet tooth, as they believe he was snacking on his mother's sugary fluid while in the womb. He is believed to be the UK's third-biggest baby and the biggest for eight years.

COVID-19: NCDC announces 166 additional infections, total now 211,496

The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) has announced additional 166 COVID-19 new infections from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the country.  The NCDC, via its verified website on Thursday, notes that the 166 fresh cases indicate an increase from the 159 cases posted on Tuesday. The Public Health Agency noted that till date, 211,496 cases have been confirmed, 202,930 cases discharged and 2,886 deaths recorded in 36 states and the FCT. It added that the 166 new cases were in Delta-36, the FCT-22, Rivers-21, Lagos-20, Anambra-18, Ondo-17, Oyo-8, Kebbi-6, Enugu-5, Plateau-5, Ebonyi-3, Kano-2, while, Bayelsa, Ekiti and Jigawa reported one case each. “Today’s report includes: 6 confirmed cases reported from Kebbi state for Oct. 26, 2021, and the five confirmed cases reported from Enugu state on Oct. 26, 2021. “Twenty discharged cases were reported from Enugu state on Oct. 26, and five discharged cases reported from Taraba state the same day are commu

Borussia Monchengladbach were ruthless in Wednesday's cup tie against Bayern Munich as they struck five past the German Champions to end their hopes of a treble. Thomas Markle has claimed that his daughter Meghan has pretty much disowned both sides of her family. Thomas also claimed that the Duchess of Sussex changed when she met Prince Harry, before saying that it was 'ridiculous' that he had been estranged for so long. He also urged Meghan to grow up while speaking to Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain. When Thomas was asked about why he thinks Meghan won't speak to him, he replied: "You're asking me a question that is four years old, and I can't answer it. I don't know what changed her. "She's never been that way before and once she hooked up with Harry, she changed." He then slammed the Duchess for disowning both sides of her family: "I understand that she hooked up with Soho Club and a different group of people, but she's pretty much disowned both sides of her family, and I don't understand the reason for it."

Nigerian Singer Innocent Idibia popularly known as Tuface has threaten to sue former Chocolate City star Mr Olawale Ashimi Popularly know as Brymo for one billion naira. Lawyers of Mr Idibia have sent letters to Brymo, issuing a 48 hours ultimatum for the former to withdraw his statements and publish on all his social media accounts an unreserved apology to Tuface and his wife.
