Edo people voted against injustice - Rochas Okorocha reacts to Obaseki's victory.

Former governor of Imo State, Rochas Owelle Okorocha, has described PDP win in the just concluded Edo Gubernatorial election as a win against injustice. Okorocha refused to congratulate PDP, hailed the people of Edo State, describing their actions on the election day as a revolt against injustice.  “I will not congratulate the PDP, I will congratulate the Edo people. I congratulate them for standing up against injustice because the people that voted for Obaseki are not only PDP, even people in the APC voted for him. “They want to stand up for injustice, Edo people are not docile, they know what they want and how they want it," Okorocha told newsmen.

Obaseki of the PDP recorded a landslide victory over Ize-Iyamu of the APC to secure a second term. Governor Godwin Obaseki of the PDP wins Edo Gubernatorial election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Godwin Obaseki, winner of the governorship election in Edo State. INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, announced the result of the election on Sunday. Obaseki of PDP polled 307,955 votes to defeat his closest rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, of the All Progressives Congress, who got 223,619 votes. Rim-Rukeh, while declaring Obaseki winner, said the incumbent governor was returned elected after satisfying all requirements in line with the law. Obaseki of PDP ran against APC standard-bearer Ize-Iyamu and 13 others. Obaseki was elected on APC’s platform in 2016 but defected to the PDP after being denied the ticket owing to intra-party squabbles. #JusticeforUWA: Edo State governor orders investigation in to the murder of the 22-year-old Uwa Omozuwa who was raped and murdered inside a Church in Benin.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has ordered the investigation  into the murder of 22-year old Uwa Omozuwa. She died three days after she was violently raped inside a Miracle Sanctuary parish, Redeemed Christian Church of God located at  44, Osa Amadasun street, off Agbor road, Benin city. Uwaila was a first year student of Microbiology in the University of Benin before she was murdered. She was a regular visitor to the church where she goes to read. Her Mother and her siblings have been members of the church for 15 years. Meanwhile, the Pastor of  the Church in Benin City, escaped a mob action by aggrieved youths and family members of the 22-year-old. It took the timely intervention of the Police to avert a mob action when the Pastor of the Church went on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased.
