Indonesia reported 4,634 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday September 24, according to the health ministry. Indonesia has now recorded a total of 262,022 cases of coronavirus, 191,853 recoveries and 10,105 deaths.

Indonesia reported 4,465 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday September 23, the health ministry announced. Indonesia has now recorded 257,388 cases of the novel coronavirus, 187,958 recoveries and 9,977 deaths.

Indonesia reported a record 4,176 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, September 21, the health ministry announced. The country has now recorded a total of 248,852 cases of the virus, 180,797 recoveries and 9,677 fatalities.

Indonesia records 684 new cases of COVID-19; total cases tops 28,000.

Number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continued to increase with the announcement of 684 new cases of the deadly bug. Spokesperson for the handling of the virus in the country, Achmad Yurianto, made this known during the daily briefing at the BNPB office Jakarta on Wednesday June 6. Total number of cases in the country now stands at 28,233, with 8,406 discharged and and 1,698 deaths recorded.

Indonesia records over 16,000 cases of COVID-19.

With 568 new cases of the virus reported on Thursday May 14, Indonesia has now recorded over 16,000 cases. The new cases were confirmed by the spokesperson for COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, at the BNPB office, Jakarta, Indonesia. Total number of cases in the country now stands at 16,006, with 3,518 discharged and 1,043 deaths.

Indonesia has reported 689 new cases of COVID-19, taking the country's total cases of the virus to over 15,000. The announcement was made by the spokesperson for COVID-19 in the country, Achmad Yurianto at the BNPB office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (May 13). The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 15,438, with 3287 discharged and 1028 deaths.

16-year-old girl murdered by her brothers for having sex with relative in Indonesia.

Two Indonesian brothers have been arrested for allegedly murdering their 16-year-old sister over accusations of extramarital sex, police said Tuesday, a killing for which they could face execution if convicted. The men, aged 20 and 30, admitted that they attacked their sister with a log and a machete because she had sex outside of marriage, authorities said of the killing on Saturday in Sulawesi island’s Bantaeng regency. The teen’s family also briefly held hostage a distant relative suspected of having relations with the girl after he refused to marry her. “The suspects said they were outraged and ashamed when their sister admitted she had sex with a man who is their distant relative,” local police chief Wawan Sumantri told  AFP . Police detained seven other members of the family for questioning, and to protect them from outraged local residents, he added. Heavy rains that battered Jakarta two days in a row caused citywide flooding on Tuesday, throwing the capital city into disarray and inhibiting transportation. Several commuter line trains, Transjakarta buses and Jak Lingko (public minivan) routes serving Greater Jakarta had already been disrupted for two consecutive days. Tuesday's flooding made the disruptions worse. Commuter Line trains serving the Bekasi to Kota, Bogor to Kota and Bogor/Depok to Angke/Jatinegara routes had to stop at Manggarai Station, while trains serving the Bekasi to Kota route stopped at Pasar Senen Station. The electricity supply to 20 Transjakarta bus stops was cut on Tuesday morning, disabling electric ticket readers. Twenty-two Transjakarta bus routes and 14 Jak Lingko routes were suspended, while 12 other routes were diverted on Tuesday morning. At least six students drowned and five others are missing after being caught by a flash flood in torrential rain while trekking near a river in Indonesia Around two dozen students from a group of 250 were injured in the incident and taken to hospital in Yogyakarta, the country’s cultural capital on Java island. “While they were trekking, suddenly the flood with strong current hit and swept away some students,” said national disaster mitigation agency spokesman Agus Wibowo in a statement. The students were from school scout clubs. The Southeast Asian archipelago is regularly hit by floods during the rainy season, which started in late November. Torrential rain in January triggered flooding and landslides that killed nearly 70 people in and around the capital, Jakarta, while thousands more were forced to evacuate to shelters.
