EFCC arrests Obi Cubana for money laundering and tax fraud.

Popular socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for money laundering.  The Anambra-born club owner, who arrived the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja, at about noon on Monday, is currently being interrogated by operatives of the commission. Though allegations against the socialite were sketchy as of press time, a source disclosed that his case borders on alleged money laundering and tax fraud. The source said, “Obi Cubana was arrested and brought to the EFCC headquarters on Monday afternoon over allegations of money laundering and tax fraud. He is being grilled by detectives as we speak.” The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said he has yet to be briefed on the development. Obi Cubana made headlines in July when he hosted an ostentatious burial for his mother in Oba, Anambra State, in which over 200 cows were reportedly killed. Two Chinese national arrested for allegedly offering N100 million bribe to EFCC top Officer.

Two Chinese has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, for allegedly offering bribe up to the tune of N100 million to it's top officer. The EFCC, made the announcement via its Official Twitter account. The statement reads: "EFCC Arrests Two Chinese For Offering N100m Bribe To Its Top Officer The Sokoto Zonal Office of the EFCC, has arrested two Chinese: Mr. Meng Wei Kun and Mr. Xu Koi for offering a sum of N50,000,000 as bribe to its Zonal Head, Mr. Abdullahi Lawal.   The suspects were arrested on Monday, May 11, 2020 in Sokoto. The bribe was allegedly offered in a desperate bid to compromise ongoing investigations of a construction company, China Zhonghao Nig. Ltd, handling contracts awarded by the Zamfara State Government in the sum of N50,000,000,000.00(Fifty Billion Naira) between 2012 to 2019. Mr. Magu who made the statement at the passing out parade of the EFCC detective inspector course five has attracted a lot of backlash from well meaning Nigerians both home abroad. The EFCC on their official Twitter handle went further to defend the statement of their boss which only invited more backlash from the Public.
