Naomi Osaka withdraws from Western and Southern Open semi-finals.
The former World number one took to social media on Wednesday to announce her decision.
"I don't expect anything drastic to happen with me not playing, but if I can get a conversation started in a majority white sport, I consider that a step in the right direction," Osaka wrote in a statement.
The withdrawal is a show of protest over the reckless shooting of Jacob Blake, who was shot seven times by cops in Wisconsin on Sunday and is now paralyzed from the waist down.
Milwaukee Bucks had earlier boycotted it's games, in protests of the radical shooting of Jacob Blake.
