Lagos Slams 50% increase on BRT fares.


Primero Transport Services Limited, operators of the Bus Rapid Transport, BRT, has said fares will go up by 50%, an action taken due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.


The company on Thursday said that the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, has given them approval to increase the fares.


It was reported that the company withdrew its services on Monday due to losses incurred as a result of the new guidelines mapped out by the government, that saw number of commuters reduced from 70 per trip to 20.



Effective from Friday May 29, a trip charged N200 before the increase will now be N300, while a trip costing N300 before the increase will now cost N500.


Also number of passengers has also been increased from the initial 20 per trip stipulated by the State government, to 42 passengers per trip, with no passenger standing on buses.
