First Suspect In Rwandan Genocide Arrested in Paris France.




Felicien Kabuga, one of the most wanted suspects in the Rwandan genocide, was arrested on Saturday in the Paris region, local procuratorate said in a statement.


Kabuga, 84, who was living under a false identity in a flat on the outskirts of Paris, had been pursued by international justice for 25 years.


Kabuga was the alleged financier of the genocide. About 1 million people were killed in Rwanda during the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, which lasted about 100 days.


In 2003, the UN General Assembly designated April 7 as the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda.
