'I try to make sure they are not A**holes:' John legend on his children's privileged upbringing.

John Legend has spoken out on family life with wife Chrissy Teigen and their two children Luna, three, and Miles, 23 months, in an honest new interview.

The EGOT winner is the cover star for the new issue of Rollacoaster Magazine, starring in a photoshoot with his daughter.

Alongside the images shot by Doug Inglish, John discusses his children's privileged life, confessing he fights to make sure they are being raised with the values important to him and Chrissy.

'[They're] growing up in a very rarefied space, one that I don't have an experience dealing with as a child,' he explains.

While Luna and Miles grow up in a Hollywood Hills mansion, John was raised in Ohio, the son of a factory worker and a seamstress.

'I always try to figure out a way to make sure they're not a**holes,' he says of his kids.

Luna and Miles are also globe-trotters at a young age, joining their parents as they chase their careers around the world. John says he can't wait to tour more with his family, explaining:

'I've toured through the different phases of my life, [from] being a bachelor in my mid-twenties, to being a forty-year-old husband with two young kids.'

'I love bringing the family along and I'm excited to have them with me on the tour bus. It's fun to see the world through their eyes.'

Despite his multi-award winning status - he became the first black man to reach EGOT status in 2018 after scooping two Emmy, 11 Grammys, one Oscar and one Tony award, the star insists he is the same man off stage and on.

'I don't really think there's that big of a difference between who I am most days and who I am at home,' he says.

'It doesn't feel like I'm transforming into a new person. It still [feels] very much like an extension of who I am as a person.'

The interview also sees the star discuss his upcoming album, which he calls 'honest, soulful and sexy'.

'I've written about the complexities of relationships, the ups and downs, the thrills and the disappointments. I think the overriding message is one of love, hope and resilience.'

His latest single Conversations on the Dark, he adds, is 'about the pretty inconsequential, minor things that define so much of the core of your relationship.'

'More than these big, major milestones, it's the little, simple things that are so meaningful and so memorable and I wanted to write a song about that feeling.'
