He was angry with his performance and not with me- Mourinho on Dele Alli

Following their 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the first leg of the champions league round of 16, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has come out to explain the reason behind Dele Alli's behavior after the Tottenham star was substituted in the 64th minute by Erik Lamela.

Alli was spotted throwing a water bottle to the ground and also his boots as he displayed his displeasure after being substituted in the match against RB Leipzig.

“I think Delle Alli was angry with his performance after he was substituted and not with me,” Mourinho told BT Sport.

“I believe Alli understood why I substituted him and brought in Lamela.

Our team performance improved after that.”

He added: “Lamela can’t play full 90 minutes, so just like how Delle Alli came on against Southampton in the last 20 minutes to change the game, the same tactics I applied tonight.”
