HAVE WE LOST THE FUTURE

Where did she miss it? This is undoubtedly the question on the lips of every tennis lover and fan of 22 years old Japanese star and Two time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka.

The sudden decline in the performance of the Japanese star who was at a point proclaimed the future of tennis has so far been alarming.

The former world number one has been nowhere near the form that saw her clinch back to back grand slam titles as well as the world number one spot.

The Naomi Osaka we see today is miles away from the 20 year old that broke the heart of Mega tennis star Serena Williams in the US open in 2018 and further went ahead to win the hearts of many tennis lovers both young and old with her energetic and charismatic display as she triumphed in Australian open 2019 with her recent collapse in the game coming in the fed. cup as she lost 6-0,6-3 to 78th ranked Spanish Sara Sorribes Tormo which makes on to wonder and ask Has she lost her MOJO?

In 2013, Osaka started her professional career in tennis. With a height of 180cm and a powerful serve and a strong forehand, the world saw Osaka as a rising star. In the 2016 US Open, a serve by her was timed at 201.1km/h.

She qualified for the Women's Tennis Association tour championship in July of 2014 at Bank of the West Classic for the first time. In the first round match, Osaka defeated Samantha Stosur who was ranked 19th in the world and was also the 2011 US Open Champion.

In January 2016 at the Australian Open, Osaka qualified to enter her first Grand Slam, rolling into the third round. During the day season, she also reached the third round of the French Open and the US Open.

In September of that same year, Osaka entered the Toray Pan Pacific Open, where she was given a wildcard entry and rolled into her first WTA final.

She was the first Japanese woman to reach the final since Kimiko Date won in 1995. Osaka placed 2nd in the final and was voted the WTA "Breakthrough of the Month."
Osaka won "Newcomer of the Year" at the 2016 WTA Awards.

In March of 2018, Naomi became the first Japanese woman to win the Indian Wells Masters in California (USA).

A Premier Mandatory, Indian Wells is widely considered the second biggest event in tennis, right behind the Grand Slam.

Same 2018, she became the first Japanese player to win a Tennis grand slam singles title defeating Serena Williams in the final of the US open and also finishing 5th in the WTA rankings.

In January 2019, Naomi Osaka won her second tennis grand slam singles title at the Australian Open and subsequently rising to the number one spot in the WTA rankings.

Next she sacks WTA coach of the year Sascha Bajin two weeks after her triumph in Melbourne. Who changes a winning team?

Another sack came on just after seven months when she was defeated in the first round of Wimbledon, this time Jermaine Jerkins the victim.

Was she carried away by the euphoria of victory and the number of endorsements that came her way or has she lost love for the game she once played with great passion and energy?
Where did it go wrong Naomi?
